SPECIAL EDITION:: RoaRing KuchinG

Day 1: The Arrival

At last, the day awaited has finally come. It’s been way months planning and preparation for this trip. I never have been to Kuching even though I have been living in Bintulu for almost two years. Simply because the distance from Bintulu to Kuching take the same amount of time as Bintulu to Kota Kinabalu so most of the time I will rather spend those times to go back and spend it with my loved ones in KK.

So, why now kan? Its all because of the RAINFOREST WORLD MUSIC FESTIVAL that has been held in Kuching ever year since 2005. It was one of the most happening events that has been a phenomenon in Borneo whereby people from all over the world raided Sarawak Cultural Village for three days simply to enjoy the music performances from the selected bands.

Well, we arrived at the Kuching International Airport around 6.00 p.m. We quickly took our taxi to TELANG USAN HOTEL which I booked since last February. It takes us 10 minutes for our taxi since we have to queue for it. Clearly, we can see the RWMF fever. There were about 3-4 groups of foreigner and I overheard their conversation about their previous experience in the festival

We are here!!
at the entrance!

Along our way to the hotel, I just couldn’t help not to notice that Kuching City is indeed very clean. This remind me of Santa Cruz, one of the municipals in the Philippines, believe me…there is not even a candy wrapper you can find lying around in their street. Its like none..totally NADA. I am not saying that our city is dirty but I’ll bet when you go to these places, you’ll understand the differences.

I could describe our hotel as middle aged however, it was cosy and the location was quite strategic. You could simply walk to almost of the tourist attractions. After unpacking and settling ourselves, Gary picked us up at the hotel and we went for a dinner at KHATULISTIWA, a café situated just beside the entrance of the Kuching Waterfront. The café arrangement is quite nice and it looks welcoming from outer side of the café. About 30 minutes later, Wilonita and her friends came; it’s has been 3 years that both of us last meet each other. The first night went out nice, strolling over the Kuching Waterfront and camwhoring was indeed the first thing we have done after three years of meeting again! Aha!!

And so, the party started at 12 midnight, where, me, paul, gary and felly continues our night at Terminal One, Padungan Road. The club was so packed with foreign faces, I guess every one started to geared up their engine for the RWMF. We partied up until 4 a.m. Super Splendid!!

Beware! ;-p

KK Jazz Festival 2011

Our Fun Photo at the KKJF photobooth
We attended. We have our fun and relaxing the night with white wine. We even have our fun photo at the KKJF photobooth. Eventhough, we came a little bit late, still we managed to enjoy the later band that night. Our personal favourite that night would be Juzzie Smith, he was playing as the one band show. Totally awesome. We able to get hs autograph on his CD and take picture.

Another one of that fascinates me is Mariko (Jazz performer from Japan). She sang two songs that night, the first one is  about an Orang Hutan that was named after her. Then, the second song " Heroes" is a song dedicated to Malaysian for their help and support to Japan after the Tsunami's. Her performance also complimented by a violinist (a japanese guy as well, but i didnt managed to catch his name..)

Mariko & the Violinist performing "My Name is Mariko"
The night start slow and relaxing but doesnt mean it ends slow too! Aha! people started their dances in front of the stage when the Aseana Percussion start their performance. It soooo 1 Malaysia performance...joget, chinese dance, the indian dance..nevertheless our very own traditional dance...Sumazau!! The jazz crowd were having so much fun, every one just mixed around and dance their feets off!!
enjoying my joget!!

a pose in a crowd..huh, my dear?
To those whom into Jazz Music or about to get into them, feel free to join the event next year! dont be mistaken ya..im not the organizer (which in this case, it was the KK Rotary Club), and am not gaining any benefits whatsoever. Simply being KK people enjoying the perks that we have in Sabah. As Sabahan, we should support our local tourism kan.. where else is better than here? atas pokok pun atas pokok la...(Haha!!)

Looking Forward For the Next KKJF!!

Kaamatan 2011; Tip of Borneo Version

Contrary to the popular habits..this year i'm changing my venue of celebrating kaamatan!! This time..its Kudat..but not to its town..im having my free 3D2N stay in one of the farthest island in Kudat Water, Tigabu Island.
from the courtesy of other blog, the location of the island
Kudat or known as The Tip of Borneo is about 2 hours and 42 minutes from Penampang Town (sometimes depends on the driver itself...haha..) It might take longer hours or shorter perhaps...whatever it is..my trip was quiet unexpected..at first I was just joking with Irwan, our WWF Marine Biologist whom based in Kudat about when will he take me for a visit to their area...and spontaneously he answer me..that i can go with him this weekend..
Tigabu

the boat of life..hehe

the balad farming
I admit I was quite reluctant at first considering that the weekend was the Kaamatan weekend, I never spent it outside of Penampang but make the story shorter I finally say yes to it. This trip was quite unbelieavable, ive done things that i never do before, ive met people that i never quite knew their existed and yeah, i think i finally got time to be just away from every thing that i think i need to be away for awhile.
taking my nap simply facing the big sea!
We slept in the hut that was built on the sea. You can feel the breeze running through your face when you sleeping, You can smell the sea life as you watched those calm water, and you can hear the waves whisting towards the shore. The life in that island it just so minimum, as long as you have food and medicines, you live. their life seem  so simple and part of me just envy them.
With Neng
(his a good cook!) and Sophia

The little community

learning their dances..Daling-daling
for the past three days, it has been a blast for me, but this time i didnt get to snorkel, the little red riding hood came visiting at the wrong time of the month. However, I do get to met a group of people that live in a sand bar and they do not have any citizenships. When i making funny remarks about a tv show, they just look at me blankly like their never see a tv or maybe they just understand what i'm saying because most of the people there say they dont...they always like refer me as the girl who spoke "Bahasa KK"...Hahaha..its the first time people actually say that to me...
run baby! run to the blue sea!
Bottom line, I have fun and I felt better. I should be thanking the Kudat team for bringing me there, I guess unexpected vacation sometimes better than those planned ones.
simply my kaamatan getaway!

Light Bulb!!!

Yesterday,i have this sudden urge to go for a movie night with my supersweetboyfriend after work. Since my workplace is just one level away from the cinema so...ehem..ehem...faham-faham la kan. hehe..we've decided to watch the new 3D cartoon movie called "Despicable Me"...since he is not so keen on watching the Twilight series...actually me pun sama...(eventhough I suPer love the Book Series) ..the movie version is kinda lame...(No offense Vampire Lovers)...

The movie is about a villain called Gru. He was planning to steal a shrinking laser gun from the research lab so that he can take over the moon. However, Gru have not enough money to fund for his rocket to the moon and then he went to the Bank of Evil for a loan. The bank manager doesnt like Gru due to his poor reputation in doing bad stuff so he sent his son, Vector to steal the shrinking laser gun and shrink the moon for him. Vector able to steal the laser gun from Gru since he has all the cool stuffs than Gru.

Vector and The Shrinking Laser Gun
Gru tried lots of stupid stuff to get back this laser gun but failed, until these three girls came and gave him the idea....or what he used to say Light Barb!! ......I think its not fun if i tell it all kan...its better for you all movie freaks go and have a blastful laugh at the cinema.

The cutest villain dominions~~Love Them!!!
Percayalah.....hehehe....the movie was a total funny blaster. We haven't stop laughing from the movie started until its end. Its a movie that you wanna watch after a long stressful day at work, this movie could change that frown face to a happy smiley face afterwards. So stress people, go watch this!!! Its Super Extra Hilarious~~~ ***** Stars!!!

Its Fabulousnesssss!!! The show was awesome....the choreography was great, the decorations and the people attended...like ive said before I've been meaning to attend this function on the 1st however due to "sebab-sebab yang xdapat dielakkan'..I've canceled it...Luckily, Oscar got another tickets for the 2nd of May performance..hehe... well..the story is basically about the most beautiful Bajau Lady in semporna named Arung Salamiah whom have promised her heart to the Bajau Guy called Tanjung Kalang...however..because of her popularity due to her beautifulness..some Bajau Dato...wants to take her as his wife even though he has so many wife..typical kan..(banyak datu-datu ada banyak isteri juga nowadays)....so like usual..the hero and the villain fought for Arung Salamiah...which at this part..she have to run away and hide herself...during the war of love..Tanjung Kalang has hurt himself which then took him some time to recover...as soon as he recover..he start his journey to find his true love, Arung...he travel around Sabah..and during his travel..he saw many different culture from different part of sabah..however...despite his long journey to find Arung...he failed to find her since she already become the fairy and wouldn't come back as human again...hmmm..biasalah dat kan...bukan happy ending..hehe.... after that..me and Oscar and his lady boss..take some time..taking pictures with the dancers...it was totally nice and am really having a good time that night...smiling till ears...haha...*CIAO*
